Course Description
This course is designed to prepare high-intermediate English learners for college-level academic writing. Students will begin by reviewing essential paragraph structure and progress toward writing well-organized, coherent, and grammatically accurate essays. They will develop a variety of rhetorical modes including narrative, descriptive, process, comparison/contrast, cause-effect, classification, and argumentative writing. The course emphasizes the full writing process: brainstorming, planning, drafting, peer review, revision, and editing. Instruction will also focus on academic tone, sentence structure, transitions, and citation practices.

- Identify and apply key features of academic writing
- Write clear topic sentences, unified paragraphs, and structured essays
- Organize ideas logically across multiple paragraph types and essay forms
