Mentoring Student Teachers in Clinical Practice

Course Description

This course is designed to support classroom teachers in effectively mentoring student teachers during their clinical practice experience. Participants will explore strategies for building strong mentoring relationships, implementing co-teaching models, and providing meaningful feedback that supports professional growth. Through practical activities, real-world scenarios, and reflective exercises, educators will gain the tools needed to foster a supportive, inclusive, and productive learning environment for teacher candidates. By the end of the course, participants will feel confident in guiding future educators while strengthening their own instructional and leadership practices.

  2. Develop professional communication and mentorship skills, including introducing oneself effectively, adapting communication across generational differences, fostering supportive relationships, and clearly articulating expectations and goals.
  3. Develop and apply effective classroom management and communication strategies that foster a caring, inclusive learning environment and promote meaningful engagement with students and families.
  4. Create and evaluate developmentally appropriate learning plans that address individual differences and promote inclusive learning environments.
