Course Description
This course helps learners understand academic lectures and participate more actively in class. Students build confidence in listening comprehension, note-taking, pronunciation, and discussion skills. Lessons focus on real classroom communication: following a teacher's explanations, asking questions, responding clearly, and delivering short presentations with basic academic structure.
Learning Objectives
- Identify main ideas and key details in academic lectures and classroom discussions
- Use note-taking strategies to capture and organize important information
- Ask and answer questions appropriately in class (clarifying, confirming, and extending)
- Share opinions with reasons and examples using intermediate academic vocabulary
- Deliver short academic presentations with clear organization and understandable pronunciation
Target Learner
- Learners transitioning from general English to academic classroom communication
- Students preparing for university-level listening and participation expectations
- Learners who need stronger listening comprehension and speaking organization
- Learners aiming to improve listening and speaking scores on standardized tests (e.g. TOEFL/IELTS)
Ideal Learners Include:
- Learners who understand everyday English fairly well but struggle with lecture speed and unfamiliar academic vocabulary
- Students who hesitate in discussions, especially when they need to respond quickly or spontaneously
- Learners who want support with pronunciation clarity, useful discussion phrases, and basic presentation organization
- Students who want to sound more confident and "class-ready" in English
