Course Description

This course strengthens higher-level listening and speaking skills used in university settings. Students practice following longer, faster lectures with fewer supports and responding in real time. Class activities include structured discussions, mini-debates, academic summaries, and presentations with Q&A. The course emphasizes fluency, precision, and academic speaking style.

Learning Objectives

  1. Follow longer academic lectures and identify argument structure and supporting points
  2. Summarize key ideas clearly and respond with meaningful comments
  3. Participate actively in discussions and debates using appropriate academic language
  4. Present a clear viewpoint with logical organization and effective transitions
  5. Handle audience questions confidently using clarification and response strategies

Target Learner

  • Students aiming to perform well in university classes requiring discussion and presentations
  • Learners who need more fluency, stronger academic vocabulary, and better real-time responses
  • Students preparing for higher-level academic communication and IELTS speaking performance

Common learner profiles include:

  • Students who can communicate well but may sound repetitive or too informal in academic settings

  • Learners who want to sound more advanced, polished, and university-ready
